In the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we are encouraging people to take precautionary measures to fight the virus.
Every day, we’re touching surfaces contaminated with virus-causing microorganisms.
These can be picked up by our hands and get into the body through our eyes, nose, and mouth that act as pathways to the throat and lungs.
Here’s what you can do prevent the spread of the virus:
- Wash your hands with soap and water. Wash them for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with dirty hands. Viruses that cause colds can enter your body this way and make you sick
- Stay away from people who are sick. Sick people can spread viruses through close contact with others.
If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing or experiencing cold or flu symptoms, arrange a test by calling your doctor or contact the Coronavirus Health Information Hotline on 1800 020 080.
